NWEA is a volunteer non-profit organization. Beginning as the Northwest Petroleum Association in 1981, the broadening energy interests of its members necessitated a change to the Northwest Energy Association. Although still focused on energy directly from the earth, such as oil, gas, and geothermal, our interests as an organization continue to broaden to include renewable energy sources. Last year’s speakers and symposium included presentations on wind energy, wave energy and biomass, as well as more traditional presentations on mineral leasing in the Northwest and geologic hazards affecting petroleum pipelines. Future presentations depend entirely on the interests of you, our members.
The NWEA is run by a Board of Directors composed of 11 members, which includes four officers, as dictated by our Bi-Laws. The Organization’s current officers and directors are:
- President – Tim Blackwood, Pacific Geotechnical, LLC
- Vice President – Garth Tallman, Tallman and Associates
- Secretary – Treck Cardwell, Northwest Natural
- Treasurer – Steve Walti, Northwest Natural
- Directors
- Bob Burnham, Burnham and Associates
- Debra Gellar, Plan A
- Patrick Geehan
- Barbara Portwood
- Michael Clayton, Michael Clayton Associates
- Ron Gullberg, Gullberg and Associates
- Jamie Schick, ODOT
